Our Services

Root Canals Blackheath

Blackheath Root canal treatment is a dental procedure used to treat infection at the centre of a tooth (the root canal system). It’s also known as ‘endodontics’.

The infection is caused by bacteria that live in the mouth and invade the tooth. This can happen after:

  • tooth decay
  • leaky fillings
  • damage to teeth as a result of trauma, such as a fall

Tooth structure
A tooth is made up of two parts. The crown is the part of the tooth that’s visible in the mouth. The root extends into the bone of the jaw, anchoring the tooth in position.

Teeth also consist of:

  • enamel – the hard outer coating
  • dentine – a softer material that supports the enamel and forms most of the tooth
  • cementum – a hard material that coats the root’s surface
  • dental pulp – the soft tissue at the centre of the tooth

The root canal system contains the dental pulp and extends from the crown of the tooth to the end of the root. A single tooth can have more than one root canal.

It’s important to look after your teeth when recovering from root canal treatment.
Avoid biting on hard foods until all of your treatment is complete.
In most cases, it’s possible to prevent the need for further root canal treatment by:

  • maintaining good oral hygiene
  • not consuming too much sugary food
  • giving up smoking (if you smoke)

Smile Makeover Blackheath

You’ve seen the fabulous results of a smile makeover – an amazing smile that’s straight, white, even, just perfect. But what does it take to get there? You might be surprised to learn just how quickly and comfortably your smile can be transformed.

What is surprising to most is that, no matter what the problem with your smile, there’s a way to make it absolutely stunning.

  • Crooked, overlapped teeth can be straightened
  • Chipped, broken, worn teeth can be repaired
  • Unattractive metal fillings can be replaced with natural-looking restorations
  • Missing teeth can be replaced
  • Gaps between teeth can be closed
  • Gummy smiles can be recountoured
  • Stained, discoloured teeth can be whitened
  • And so much more.

The first step to a beautiful smile is a complete and thorough examination by your cosmetic dentist to determine your oral health. Any health issues will be addressed and corrected before any cosmetic work begins.

Health is the foundation of all attractive smiles. From correcting any bite problems (that can cause TMJ and other painful symptoms) to restoring individual teeth, your dentist will ensure that your smile is healthy before enhancing its appearance.

When the foundation is ready, you can move on to the “artistry.” You and your cosmetic dentist will discuss your goals and expectations of your new smile. What do you want your smile to look like? What don’t you like about your smile that you want changed? Together, you will determine the “style” of your new smile. Your dentist may even show you a “Smile Style Guide” that illustrates many different smiles.

Your course of care will be determined by type of procedures required to enhance your smile. It may be as simple as one-hour smile whitening. You may chose to have porcelain veneers placed on your teeth to create a white, straight, even smile. You may have your gum line re-contoured by a laser, to reduce the appearance of a “gummy” smile. Perhaps just replacing unattractive metal fillings with natural looking porcelain restorations is all you need to make your smile look great. Maybe you’ll have just one procedure; maybe you’ll benefit from a combination of procedures.

The possibilities are endless. Imagine. In just a short time, you can have a makeover that enhances the beauty and appearance of your smile, correcting almost any problem.

The result? A smile that is straight, white and even. You may feel better than you have in years (a smile makeover may resolve pain experienced with biting or chewing). Your new smile will help you look younger, feel more confident and boost your self-esteem! It’s just amazing what a smile can do. Best of all? Even the most extreme cosmetic procedures can be completed in two to three easy, comfortable visits. So you can be smiling beautifully in no time at all!

“The clear brace has given me confidence in smiling which I never had before. It was the perfect answer for straightening my teeth.

I was apprehensive about getting a standard metal brace being in my early twenties however with the clear braces nobody could tell I was
wearing a positioned unless I told them.

The end result was incredible and the treatment ended up being quicker
and cheaper than the traditional options. I would highly recommend using clear braces to anyone of any age who wants to improve their teeth/smile.”

Facial Rejuvenation Blackheath

Line and Wrinkle Correction In Blackheath
Our dentists have an extensive knowledge of facial anatomy and have advanced this with training in Botulinum (Botox) and Hyaluronic acid filler (restylane) therapies.

These treatments will subtly enhance your appearance and produce a more youthful look.

Wrinkles and frown lines lines are often caused by repeated movements of the facial muscles which lead to the formation of a permanent wrinkle or line.

This occurs particularly on the

  • Forehead
  • Outside of the eye (“crows feet”)
  • Top of the nose

The treatment takes 15-30 minutes and you will start to see the effects within 48-72 hours with the maximum effect taking place 7-10 days.

Your facial expression will become more relaxed but by no means mask like. The overall result is very natural.

The effects will last for about 4 months but with repetitive use it will take less of the product to achieve a longer lasting effect.

” I have always been very paranoid about the Frown lines on my forehead. I have had Botox for the last 2 years and would recommend it to anyone who wants a natural youthful look.  The wrinkle and Frown lines usually disappear after 5-7 days after treatment and lasts for up to 6 months”

” I tried botox to reduce the wrinkles and frown lines. I was surprised to see how quickly it worked. I was a bit anxious at first about having it done but so far I have been very pleased with the results.“
